Members are also invited to contribute up to five shillings each towards the Gazette's costs, and the first subscriptions are acknowledged.

  • "Argete, L.B.C." describes an August tour with his brother from Kingston Hill through Guildford (avoiding the granite-paved High Street hill by North Street), Farnham, Alton, Winchester, Romsey, the New Forest, Ringwood, Christchurch and Bournemouth to Weymouth, rating the "Bush," "Swan," "George" and "Victoria and Great Western" inns and describing his own oak-and-nut clip to stop a multum-in-parvo bag wobbling on the spring.
  • District Captain W. A. Smith reports the first social evening at the "Warrington Hotel," Maida Vale on 14 December, with about eighteen present including Alison, W. A. Smith and Thorn and A. Jennings and Koch from St. Malo and St. Servan through Dinan, Jugon, Lamballe, St. Brieuc, Chatelaudren, Guingamp and Pontrieux to Paimpol, logging kilometre-by-kilometre road surfaces, the zigzag descents into the Leff valley, and hotels from the "Croix Blanche" to the dear "Hotel Gicquel."

  • "Irish Challenge" defends heavy thick-tyred machines, citing a 1.25-in.-tyred "Special Challenge" ridden from Cheltenham via Stroud to Bath on Whit-Monday and a storm-beaten run over the Isle of Wight military road from Freshwater to Chale, and lists his stud from a Michaux boneshaker to a 50-in. "Singer" weighing 69 lb. loaded.
  • Contributions must be addressed to the Editors at 35 Eastcheap, E.C., bear the author's name, be written on one side of the paper only, and reach the office by Tuesday morning for immediate insertion.
