- The acting Editor's New Year address, half-comic and half-pleading, describes Wednesday evenings with the wrappers written, the Gazette half empty and the printer's devil clamouring for copy, and asks members plainly whether they wish the paper to continue.
- Committee meetings of 31 December and 7 January elect Sidney Eddels Johnson of Gidea Hall, Romford and Stephen R. Smith of Blackheath, accept the resignations of H. Wilmer, W. H. Appleton and H. Laurence, appoint Sharpe, Alison and Barrett to examine the returns for the 1878 mileage prize, and resolve to recommend raising the subscription from 10s. 6d. to one guinea.
- The Annual General Meeting will be held at the Guildhall Tavern, Gresham Street, E.C., on 27 January, so notices of motion must reach the Hon. Sec. by the 13th under Rule 19.
- Motions for 27 January include Arthur Herbert's proposals to bar anyone connected with the bicycling or sporting press from membership, Mr. Trollope's against countenancing meets that usurp the highway, Mr. Nairn's against attacking members by private circular, the Committee's guinea subscription, and Mr. Freeth's scheme of five named districts with district captains and committeemen plus prizes for attendance at Club meets.
- The Treasurer lists the members who have paid towards the Gazette fund, almost all at 5s. from Arthur Adams to J. W. Wilson, with smaller sums from S. M. Fox and G. H. Kent, plus the earlier contributions of Forbes Byers and J. Kinder.
- "Argete, L.B.C." concludes his tour: Weymouth to Sherborne ("Digby Hotel"), train to Bristol and boat to Cardiff at 2s. 6d. a head and 1s. per bicycle, then a wretched fifty miles of colliery road through Pyle, Aberavon, Neath, Swansea and Llanelly to Carmarthen's "Ivy Bush" and its sewin, a glorious run to Haverfordwest, and a rain-beaten retreat by train from Milford Haven, the machines being two of Jack Keen's new one-legged bicycles.
- The special meeting at 47 Finsbury Circus on 23 December resolved that the society be formed, appointed Ernest C. Koch Secretary and Treasurer, fixed the subscription at 5s. and set Thursday evenings for practice.
- Eighteen rhymed clues signed "M.", ranging from a bicycle's speed and a Scottish or Irish dance to a magistrate's judgments and a book describing a wondrous trip.
- Norman B. Morris continues the tour from Paimpol to Lezardrieux and Treguier, noting the suspension bridges over the Trieux, the cathedral's old wood carving and dear local oysters, then on to Lannion's excellent "Hotel de l'Europe" and over the long zigzag hill to St. Michel-en-Greve, Lanmeur and Morlaix, where the "L'Europe" patron pretended to have no room for bicycles.
- The second social evening at the "Warrington Hotel" on 28 December drew about thirty members with singing and playing; members of all districts are welcomed, Mr. Rucker having set an example by coming from Croydon, and the next meeting falls on Saturday the 11th.
- Frederick F. Barry of Myrtle House, Richmond, endorses Alfred Henry's proposal of 19 December and asks the captain to appoint a committee at once to consider a London Bicycle Club Ball.
- Contributions must be addressed to the Editor, L.B.C. Gazette, 35, Eastcheap, E.C., bear the author's name, be written on one side of the paper only, and arrive by Tuesday morning for immediate insertion.
