- The standing note that the latest hour for reception of copy for the Gazette is 5.30 p.m. on Tuesdays.
- At the meeting of Monday 24th July 1882 Henry White Wickins of The Larches, near Orpington, Kent was elected a member on the proposal of R. H. Curtis and W. Wyndham. The resignations of J. Adam jun. and A. B. Visick were accepted, H. Jennings resigned from the Committee, and it was resolved that 1883 subscriptions paid in 1882 shall not appear in the 1882 balance sheet.
- Hon. Sec. W. Pyle-English reports the Executive meeting at 17, Ironmonger Lane on 18th July: W. E. Maverley (Pickwick B.C.) elected to the vacancy left by C. F. Mess, further evidence heard on the Brighton coach and cyclists at Handcross Hill, the Messrs. Baker amateur-status cases referred to the Dorset Centre, the Syndale Park Sports matter dropped, and a letter from the Swimming Association of Great Britain asking reciprocal recognition of disqualifications.
- The Captain regrets that the Union Championship will probably keep him away from the Harrow Meet, and hopes members will not use his absence as an example and excuse for their own.
- A heat-by-heat account of the Bicycle Union's Five Miles Championship at the Crystal Palace, won by J. S. Whatton (C.U.Bi.C. and L.B.C.) from the Hon. Ion Keith-Falconer by three or four yards in 15 min. 12 2/5 sec., only just outside Cortis's 1880 time. Whatton and W. K. Adam missed the silver time medals by a fifth of a second in their heat, and in the One Mile Handicap L.B.C. took all three places through F. L. Adam, H. R. Reynolds and C. A. Brown.
- The first ties of the club tournament, organised with the Captain's permission, are drawn out district by district, Ashley Barrett v. T. Child, C. F. Christie v. Theo Godlee, R. H. M. Francis v. H. R. Reynolds and the rest. All ties must be played anywhere the competitors please before 5th August, best of three setts, never on a Saturday afternoon, with results to H. N. Sharp, 73, Old Broad Street.
- The tabulated district rendezvous: all districts run to Harrow on 29th July, no official run on 5th August because of Bank Holiday, then the N.E. from Lea Bridge Road to Cheshunt, the N.W. from "Jack o' Straw's Castle", the W. from Hammersmith Bridge and the S.W. from Kingston Station to Oatlands Park, with the Croydon and Blackheath divisions of the S.E. meeting for the Downs.
- District reports for 22nd July. Theo. Godlee's four N.E. men rode by Woodford Bridge, Chigwell and Abridge to the "Green Man," Navestock, chasing a hare in the high road on the way home; W. J. Williams complains of the thin N.W. muster on the run to Little Berkhampstead via Carbon Hill and Newgate Street, 35 1/2 miles; J. W. Langmore and R. M. Gruggen describe A. E. Buckler's lavish West and South-West picnic, salmon, beef, pineapples and a capacious loving cup, with hot water for tea fetched by tricycle; and H. G. A. Brown's ten S.E. men ride over Polhill to tea at the "Amherst Arms," Riverhead, where the Championship telegram was cheered.
- E. J. and H. H. Shepley continue their tour from the Llanberis lakes, past Dolbadarn Castle and the slate quarries, to Carnarvon, where the tyres were re-cemented by a repairer found through the B.T.C. and the Eagle Tower climbed. On through the Menai Bridge, Bangor, the Pass of Penmaenmawr and Conway Castle to Llandudno, where E.'s backbone was found wrenched inches out of line with a crack an inch long at the neck.
- "Rambler" chaffs the members still owing subscriptions under the "Arrears Bill," pleads for hatless club photographs, reports W. R. Sewell's painful illness, and scents an N.W. road rider defecting to a cricket club. He totals the Club's Crystal Palace haul, six of twenty-three Championship entries, nine of fifty-nine in the Handicap, recalls the President's 1879 race against Keen, and records McCullum Hill's two casks of beer set ready in the district stable.
- The Reichstags-abgeordnete Herr Custodis has taken to the Radreiterkunst, that is, to bicycling, and the writer hopes his tracks may resemble his title in length if not in crookedness.
- N. B. Morris of 121, Bishopsgate Street, E.C. offers a large-size "King of the Road" hub lamp, little used and in good condition, cheap or in exchange for a good head lamp.
- Under Rule 40 no member may represent the Club without the Captain's leave; he sanctions riding at the Fifty Miles Amateur Championship at the Crystal Palace on 29th July, the Victoria A.C. Sports at Stoke-on-Trent, and the Teignmouth bicycle races.
