- Theo. Godlee reports for the District Captains on the meet at Harrow. The N.E. gathered at the foot of Muswell Hill and joined the N.W. at Hendon, twenty strong by Edgware Road and lanes; the S.E. left Croydon and picked up Wyndham at the "Double Gates," Merton before crossing Wimbledon Hill; the S.W. left Kew at 4.45 by Hanger Hill, Perivale and Ballot-box Hill. Some thirty sat down to tea at the "King's Head," and the S.E. reached Croydon again at eleven.
- Abbreviated from the Sporting Life: the Hon. Ion Keith-Falconer won the fourth championship on the Crystal Palace track in 2 hrs. 43 min. 58 1/2 sec., beating Lacy Hillier's record by 6 min. 52 1/4 sec. on a 58 1/2-inch "Humber" of only 29 lb. Vesey was second after losing 250 yards to a broken spoke, Allport and Fisher retired, seven men beat the time standard, G. P. Coleman timed all 175 laps, and a table sets out every new record from twenty-six to fifty miles.
- The Captain's sanctioned list under Rule 40: the Victoria A.C. Sports at Stoke-on-Trent on 8th and 9th August, the Teignmouth bicycle races, St. Paul's and Gresham Athletic Clubs at Stamford Bridge in September, the Surrey B.C. autumn meeting at the Oval, the Nottingham B.C. Sports, and the L.A.C. at Stamford Bridge in October and November.
- Wadham Wyndham's address is now 40, Elm Park Gardens, S.W., but he elects to continue to belong to the S.E. District.
- W. Silk, junr., of 8, Long Acre, W.C. offers a first-quality leather Clytie bag, new three weeks ago, at 12s. 6d. against its cost of 21s.
- The tabulated district rendezvous: no official run on 5th August because of Bank Holiday; then the N.E. from Lea Bridge Road to Cheshunt, the N.W. from "Jack Straw's Castle," and the W. and S.W. to Oatlands Park while the Croydon and Blackheath divisions ride to the Downs; the following week Chigwell for the N.E., Croydon and Blackheath divisions, and West Drayton for the N.W., W. and S.W. from Savernake Cottage and the "Clarence," Teddington.
- At the club's evening meeting on the Crystal Palace track on Thursday 27th July, W. K. Adam of the Oxford University Bicycle Club won the Three Miles Invitation Scratch Race in 8 min. 41 2/5 sec., the best on record, from F. L. Adam and C. D. Vesey; F. R. Leith took the One Mile Handicap by a yard from F. E. S. Perry. G. P. Coleman was timekeeper, with G. Lacy-Hillier and H. J. Wood as referees.
- The same evening H. L. Cortis, the ex-Amateur Champion, rode twenty miles against time on the Crystal Palace track and covered 20 miles 297 yards inside the hour, a feat never before performed. He started with the field in the Three Miles Invitation final and was afterwards paced in turn by Hunter, Tacagni, Vesey, Thorn, Woolnough and Leith; the two-mile times are tabulated.
- A telegraphed report from the Surbiton Recreation Grounds: riding against the President of the L.B.C., H. L. Cortis covered 20 miles in 59 min. 20 2/5 sec., beating his own record by 11 3/5 sec. and reaching 20 miles 320 yards in the hour, beating every record from five miles upwards. Keith-Falconer retired at the sixth mile in 17 min. 37 sec.
- E. J. and H. H. Shepley conclude their tour: rain at Llandudno drives them to the train for Chester, where they put up at the Blossom's, walk the walls and quote "Christopher Tadpole" on the Rows; then Lancaster and Rotherham, with the Bessemer steel works, the Manvers Main Colliery at Mexboro' and the Harrogate Meet. H. rides home alone from Chesterfield over "chalk pudding" Derbyshire roads through Matlock, Ambergate, Ripley and Nottingham, then Loughborough, Leicester and Market Harborough, finishing at Mortlake to complete 850 miles, and closes with advice on machines, daily distances and the value of B.T.C. membership.
- "Rambler" totals a fortunate ten days for the Club, two championships, three time medals, four handicap and four open scratch prizes and records from three to fifty miles, and notes that Jephson took twelve of the twenty-five records available in the fifty miles. Also L. B. Reynolds's double at Eastbourne, a probable Union tricycle championship, the unprecedented absence of the S.E. substitute from the General Meet, and G. L. E. Andreae's account of the gravel roads from Heidelberg to Geneva.
