- Comic leader on the friend's dog that shadows a club run like Captain Marryat's "Snarleyyow," stopping dead under the front wheel every mile and a half and by preference on a steep railway bridge, ending with a petition that the Committee admit no dog that has not paid its entrance fee and guinea subscription and been duly vouched for and elected.
- E. S. Price, Hon. Sec., again sets out the programme for Saturday 22nd September at 3.30: One Mile Club Handicap, Twelve Miles District Scratch on bona fide roadsters, Half-mile Club Scratch and a 220 yards flat race for boys under 16, entries closing 17th September and members admitted free on production of the Club badge.
- Theo. Godlee, Captain's Substitute, urges members to enter their brothers under 16 for the flat race and explains that, though the official notice does not say so, it is a handicap decided chiefly by age.
- Tabulated district meets for the N.E., N.W., W., S.W. and the Croydon and Blackheath Divisions of the S.E., with destinations including Upminster, Dinswell Hill, Woking ("Maybury Inn"), East Grinstead, Epping, Harrow and Crawley.
- Wet district reports for 1st September: five N.E. men by Chigwell to Passingford Bridge and Navestock, meeting a herd of wild cattle and a tea that unexpectedly included shrimps; the N.W. to Elstree by Brockley Hill and Bushey Heath, finding only Dr. Langmore of the West there, with a second account from F. M. Elgood of a drenched ride home from the "Red Lion"; the West's failed Elstree run and Pigott's notice of next week's Woking Heath meet ("N.B.…No grotto"); the S.E. paperchase from Addington to the "George Inn," Downe, where two hounds beat the hares home by keeping to the road; and R. M. Gruggen riding the S.W. with a press-ganged brother on a hired tricycle, halting for the Queen's Own Hussars' band at Hampton Court.
- "One of the Sub-Committee" tells the correspondent "®" that the attendance-average question is already before a Sub-Committee due to report shortly; Theo. Godlee asks N.E. men willing to ride the District Race to send in their names rather than let him hear of them at second hand; and, as Captain's Substitute, he tells members that no formal entry form is needed for the private race meeting, a letter and the half-crowns will do.
- Gossip on the S.E. D.C. scoring the gypsy's donkey as "one visitor" at the Riverhead run, the vindication felt by opponents of moving the Annual Race Meeting now that a Stamford Bridge Guarantee Fund is being collected, the N.C.U.'s success in getting Croydon's dangerous Auckland Road ventilator covers turned, Beck's ascents of the Matterhorn and Weisshorn from Zermatt, and H.
