- Leader on the crisis over racing on the public road: long admitted illegal but winked at while trials stayed private, it has been brought to a head by widely advertised open Tricycle Road Championships, by the scene of confusion at the start of the twenty-four hours Tricycle Road Ride, and by the stopping of two competitors by the police. With stringent orders against racing and furious riding now issued throughout the metropolitan district, the writer fears these are so many nails in the coffin of the L.B.C.'s own Bath Trial and that the shortsighted selfishness of the few will cost ordinary wheelmen their liberty of pace.
- Captain Ashley W. Barrett prints the programme: 3.0 One Mile Club Handicap in three heats for gold, silver and bronze medals; 3.30 Lacrosse match; 4.0 the 220 yards Flat Race for boys under sixteen; 4.15 the final tie of the lawn tennis tournament; 5.0 the Twelve Miles District Scratch Race, two bronze medals to the first two men of the winning district and a third to the best of the rest; 6.0 presentation of prizes. Members are admitted free on production of the Club Badge, extra tickets 1s. from the Committee.
- Explains the game to be played as an interlude at the Race Meeting, goals six feet high and six feet apart, the ball to pass below the top of the posts, no boundaries and play permitted behind the goal, no off-side rule, and twelve a side reduced because the Stamford Bridge space is limited, and lists the two teams of members and members' brothers (Sachs, Gerard and A. C. Smith, the Newmans, Theo. Godlee, the Barretts, Murray, Lloyd). It defends the Clapton Lacrosse Club, largely made up of L.B.C. men, as an affiliated institution rather than a rival.
- The S.E.'s Crawley run drew about a score to the start, sent off at fixed intervals: Alfred Herbert led away on the 'Extraordinary,' Lloyd took the lead at Redhill and won in 1 hr. 4 min. 50 sec., Sewell beating Herbert for second by two yards, while Jackson came a nasty spill on Earlswood Common on a semi-racer; tea followed at the 'George,' with a contingent riding on to Brighton by moonlight. The N.E. of 15th September managed only three men from the Corner by Woodford and the upper road to tea at the 'Thatched House,' Epping, and the W. run was carried through by O. Thorn and Leeds in District Captain Harold C. Pigott's absence, Leeds adding an account of riding to Harrow alone by Hanger Hill over a road dug up for drains.
- Tabulated meets showing the Race Meeting at Stamford Bridge on September 22 ruled across the districts, and the following Saturday's runs for the N.E., N.W., W., S.W. and S.E., Abridge, Mill Hill Road, Leatherhead and Godstone, from Lea Bridge Road and Syborn's Corner, 'Jack Straw's Castle,' Savernake Cottage, Kingston Station, Croydon Central Station and Old Lewisham Church.
- Racing notes: the Surrey Meeting drew as big a crowd as ever, its Ten Miles Scratch spoilt by Wilson's fall but finishing with Liles beating Brown of the Brixton Ramblers by a couple of yards from Gaskell; H. G. Clark of the Eastbourne Club won the Mile Handicap off 90 yards from 62 entries. H. R. Reynolds ran fourth in the Three Miles and third in the Two Miles at the Exeter Sports on J. R. Walter's borrowed racer, Rucker delighted the Devonshire folk with trick riding, and G. H. Adams covered 241 miles in 24 hours on a 'Facile' round a circuit through Cambridge, Bedford, Newmarket and Biggleswade.
- A string of mock-alliterative questions put to the Club authorities: when will the Rules Sub-Committee report, how many gold medals beyond the legal quantity will be given away yearly, must members really elect their District Captain every week, will the district areas be defined or will Botany Bay stay in the S.W., will visitors' attendances be scored, and will the Editor quash these quasi-querimonious quodlibetical questions.
- 'Porcupine' notes the Otter Swimming Club's annual entertainment at the St. Marylebone Baths on Tuesday 2nd October, with an open scratch 100 yards and tickets from Dicker, the Newmans, Marchant, Sewell and Rucker; R. B. Hough's spill, which kept him from Crawley and from representing the N.E. in the District Race; and H. R. Reynolds's long ride from Edinburgh by Blair Adam, Carlisle, Keswick, Windermere, Manchester and Leicester to Exeter, ended by a sprained ankle that makes him scratch to Sharp in the tennis tournament. He also fancies the North-East for Saturday's Twelve Miles Roadster Race against determined S.E. novices.
- A. J. Bacon's address is now 10, Nieuwe Vaart, Amsterdam.
- Under Rule 40 the Captain sanctions members racing at the listed meetings from 20 to 29 September, the Colchester B.C. races, the L.B.C. private meeting of the 22nd, the Leominster B.C. meeting, Bournemouth races, the Chichester Cyclists' Club, the L.A.C. at Stamford Bridge and races at Romford.
