- Editor Abbot Bassett opens Vol. 17 of the Official Bulletin, reporting that liberal member subscriptions assure the paper's continuance for five years and noting a promised post-war reduction in zone-system postage.
- The Boston Bicycle Club entertained Lieut. J. C. Percy of the British Royal Navy (a Pickwick Bicycle Club member and Irish Cyclist editor) at a Nov. 26, 1918 "Hands Across the Sea" dinner at the Boston Athletic Association, with songs and verses by Quincy Kilby, Tom Hall and Chas. W. Reed.
- Richard Pinksohn recounts his cycling career from a disastrous 1885 high-wheel crash in Dedham on a $75 Underwood/C. Brigham machine through his Roxbury Bicycle Club years to his switch to the safety in 1892.
- The Nylaw's fall meeting at the New York Athletic Club on Oct. 26 sent a verse toast to absent member Charley Cossum, signed by Wm. W. Share, Walter M. Meserole and others.
- Editor Bassett's wife, L. A. W. life member No. 240 and a lady-rider pioneer who began on a tricycle in 1882, was struck by an auto on Nov. 20 while crossing the street, suffering bruises, a sprained ankle and knee, and shock.
- Uncle Jesse Green of West Chester, Pa., enters his 102nd year, still serving as secretary-treasurer of the local Fire Company though he recently gave up his bicycle owing to automobiles.
- Correspondent Clarence G. Wilson recalls first seeing a bicycle at Claverack College, N.Y., in 1869 and obtaining a "Dalzell" machine built at Copake or Valatie in 1870; Bassett argues these were velocipedes, the first true bicycle being Starley's 1872 "Ariel."
- A history of the pneumatic tire from Thomson's 1846 "patent aerial wheels" through Dunlop's air tube, C. K. Welch's 1890 wired tire and W. E. Bartlett's beaded-edge design.
- The Japan Chronicle reprints the comically translated rules posted for English-speaking motorists in Japan, covering speed in knots, ringing the horn at cattle, and not driving while drunk.
