Outing was the New York illustrated monthly of sport, travel and recreation that grew out of Outing and the Wheelman, and these volumes run from October 1888 to September 1894. Each number carries illustrated features on hunting, fishing, yachting, canoeing and rowing in the United States and Canada, travel in the American West, Europe and Asia, serial fiction and verse, and a cycling strand of touring narratives, training and racing articles and a monthly cycling record. From 1891 its monthly records cover club racing, athletics, football, lawn tennis, the kennel and photography, beside the Editor's Open Window, book notices and the theatre.
