  Director-General Federico Johnson reviews 1895: reciprocity pacts signed with the French, Belgian and Austrian Touring Clubs, a consular corps now 300 strong, the Road Section's 400-page guide covering 24,000 km with 18 more route profiles and six regional guides planned for 1896, warning-post signage at dangerous junctions, a new legal-aid panel and cycling case-law compilation, and roughly 300 hotel contracts negotiated by the Comfort Section.

  List of roughly ninety new membership candidates proposed between 31 December 1895 and 31 January 1896, drawn from towns across Italy from Venice, Vicenza and Rovigo to Catania, Fiume and Rome, and including cycle manufacturer Edoardo Bianchi of Milan and Prince Ludovisi Boncompagni di Venosa, a senator.

  Extract from Article 2 of the T.C.C.I. statute setting out the association's aims: defending cyclists' use of the public roads, legal assistance to members, discounted hotel and mechanic rates, negotiated rail and shipping fares for bicycles, warning signposts at dangerous junctions, publication of road guides and the monthly Rivista, and reciprocal arrangements with foreign touring clubs through local representatives.

  Roads Section report by Luigi Vittorio Bertarelli: a further 1,688 lire subscribed toward the cast-iron signpost fund, from donors including the Compagnia Rosumata and nobleman Bagatti Valsecchi, each post costing 25 lire and bearing the donor's name; the Guida delle Strade di Grande Comunicazione nearing completion for despatch by end of April in two or three pocket volumes; and the new route profiles praised for adding gradient percentages missing from the first three.

  Practical notes on the Giovi road between Busalla and Genoa: the Busalla-Giovi climb is easy, the Mignanego-Giovi return is a stiffer 4 km at 6.2%, the Busalla-Novi descent is delightful, and the Pontedecimo-Sampierdarena stretch is dangerous with traffic and a poor surface before the fine arrival at Genoa's Lanterna.

  Notes recommending the 109 km Genoa-La Spezia road be split over two days with a night at Chiavari or Sestri, called one of the most beautiful rides in Italy; good hotels are noted at Sturla, Nervi, Rapallo and Chiavari but the Bracco crossing to Borghetto di Vara is nearly deserted, and the restrictions reported at Zoagli are confirmed by the town's mayor not to affect the cyclists' route.
