  Minutes of the council's 1 September 1897 sitting, chaired by Federico Johnson: Luigi Vittorio Bertarelli presents the finished Guida del Veneto and is voted thanks along with secretary Fioroni; the council resolves to take part in Turin's 1898 National Exhibition, discusses the government's proposed cycling regulation after a visit from deputy Brunialti, expels member Enrico Gatti of Lissone, and approves a special badge for affiliated pharmacists.

  Notice that the Carta del Veneto, Cavaliere Federico Johnson's gift to the club's first 10,000 members, is ready and being posted out, describing the map's three-colour survey by Florence's Istituto Geografico Militare at 1:500,000 covering the Veneto and neighbouring Lombard, Emilian and Trentine provinces, with purchase prices for members without it.

  Luigi Vittorio Bertarelli, head of the Sezione Strade, presents the newly printed Guida Regionale del Veneto, three fascicles totalling 700 pages describing 1,400 road sections over 16,000 kilometres, with 550 profiles and 27 index maps compiled from 6,000 questionnaires, explains the Milan and out-of-town distribution order, and notes the Austrian Touring Club's guide modelled on the T.C.C.I.'s own format and a proposed Palermo-Messina-Napoli-Roma excursion.

  Corrections to the Guida delle Grandi Comunicazioni's road profiles, an altitude misprint at Klausbrücke on the Conegliano-Toblach line, a missing 2.2 km distance near Alessandria, a mistaken rectified distance on the Col du Petit-Saint-Bernard to Séez stretch (should read 26.5 km), and several reversed left/right branch-road markers on the Biella, Torino-Casale, Ivrea-Biella, Mortara-Casale, Primolano-Feltre and Treviso-Udine lines.

  Circular from chancellor A. Provasoli to the Corpo Consolare clarifying that membership cards issued from 1 October run to the end of 1898 under the statute's carry-over rule, but that this does not extend to publications already issued in 1897 (the Lazio guide, 1897 yearbook, Veneto guide and profiles), so new members wanting the 1897 set should ask to be enrolled for 1897 rather than 1898.

  Ing. Carlo Vanzetti, head of the Sezione Tecnica, lists newly affiliated repair mechanics offering member discounts, including Casto Coriolano at Sora (20% on repairs, 10% on accessories), G. B. Marcellino at Alessandria, Cesare Perazzoli at Verona and members Spirito Tavolaj at Saluzzo and Alfredo Fornasari at Forlì.

Marelli, of hotels and restaurants newly affiliated between 20 July and 20 August 1897 with their discounted room rates, from the Mont Blanc at Aosta to establishments at Pisa, Varese and Cologna Veneta, accompanied by a warning against hotels that display the club's plaque without being properly affiliated.

  Florence section notice that members still owed receipts, cards, yearbooks or guides can collect them from Giuseppe Francolini's shop on Via Cavour, with a 10% discount from the Ugolini e Tonissi drapers on Via Calzaioli; and praise for new Pieve di Cadore member Luigi Silvestri, a coach operator who offers to carry members' bicycles free of charge on the Belluno-Pieve and Pieve-San Vito roads.

  S. Fabbroni, head of the Sezione Movimento, reports new Italian customs facilitations letting foreign members import bicycles without a cash deposit through Turin, Milan, Como, Florence, Verona, Rome, Novara and Arona, plus a renewable six-month temporary-export permit for members near the border, and explains the continuing delay in applying the promised Austrian customs concessions pending approval of the club's guarantee by Vienna.

  Dott. Piero Favari, head of the Sezione Medica, republishes the club's cycling-accident insurance contract with the Società Anonima Infortuni, offering five tiers from a daily temporary-disability indemnity of 5 lire up to death and civil-liability cover of 5,000 lire, and thanks the medical director of the Salsomaggiore baths, Dott. Marzorati, for his treatment of members.

  Full thirteen-article text of the 6 February 1897 agreement, signed by Federico Johnson and provincial posts director Raffaele Roversi and approved by ministerial decree of 21 February 1897, letting the T.C.C.I. fix cyclist-warning plates to government telegraph poles for an annual fee of 50 centesimi per plate, followed by the ministerial decree itself.

  The 28th list of Corpo Consolare appointments approved by the council, naming new consuls and vice-consuls including Pietro Pagani at Lucca and Leopoldo Pollak (promoted) at Trieste, alongside resignations, the death of Giuseppe Mazzola at Vogogna, and Andrea Franzoni's withdrawn resignation at Casalpusterlengo.
