  Notice convening the club's Annual General Meeting for Sunday 27 March 1898 at the club's premises, with an agenda covering the 1897 accounts, the Director General's and auditors' reports, and other business; postal voting runs 27 March to 27 May, with the ballot enclosed in the following issue.   Director General Federigo Johnson reports that membership rose from 6,715 to 11,569 during 1897 (now near 14,000), that the year's surplus of L.14,666.82 lets the club add L.10,000 to reserves while defending the principle of individual membership against pressure to admit whole clubs at reduced rates, and he compares the Rivista Mensile's modest L.4,532 cost and its 35 life members against the far larger budgets of the French, English and Belgian Touring Clubs. The accompanying Rendiconto tabulates the year's income and expenditure and its asset and liability statement, countersigned by Johnson and accountant Piero Moro.

  Auditors Federico Guasti, Romeo Riva and Attilio Soffredi certify the club's L.37,643.55 in assets, cash on deposit with the Banca Popolare and Banca Cooperativa Milanese, the Piedmont road-profile stereotype plates, and stock of badges and publications, against L.18,043 of dues collected in advance for 1898, and forecast membership will reach 18,000 by year's end, contrasting the T.C.C.I.'s young reserve fund with the much larger ones already built by the Belgian and French Touring Clubs.

  The consular corps appointed for 1898-1900 by Council resolution of 1 January 1898: three Capi Consoli promoted (Oreste Bonfanti at Como, Luigi Gariboldi at Monza, Antonio Berti at Padua), new consuls named from Bergamo to Trieste, and consuls who have resigned, signed by Capo-Console Generale ing.   The Sezione Movimento reports that the Ministry of Finance is issuing instructions, printed in four languages, on the correct customs procedure for the temporary duty-free import and re-export of bicycles by club members, to be reprinted in full in the following issue; signed by section head Stanislao Paeboni.

  Ten-article regulation governing the club's Capi Consoli and Consoli: their duty to advise touring members on routes, roads and accommodation, to propose affiliated hotels, doctors, pharmacies and mechanics, to recruit new members, and to correspond with the relevant department head, treasurer, cancelliere, or the Capo Sezione for Strade, Comfort, Medica, Meccanica, Movimento or Legale, one subject per letter.

  Capo Sezione Strade Luigi Vittorio Bertarelli reports that typesetting of the Piedmont guide began 1 February, with over 600 of roughly 750 route elevation profiles already engraved from 6,500 questionnaires returned of 7,500 sent, aiming for publication by the opening of the exhibition; he also lists the thirteen official Swiss Federal Topographical Office map depots, from Aarau to Zurich, where members may buy maps at list price under the club's reciprocity treaty with the T.C.S.

Gaspare Capei proposes a spring cycling gathering timed to the city's Vespucci and Toscanelli centenary festivities; a committee of Capei, councillor Brogi and club secretary Guido Mariani has secured Mayor Marchese Torrigiani's support, and the T.C.C.I. Council pledges its backing, alongside a note that Gino Locatelli is separately organising an outing joining Brescia and Cremona cyclists at Quinzano d'Oglio.
