  Minutes of five Council sittings (15, 22 June and 6, 13, 27 July 1898): Johnson announces 50 repair kits ready at a net cost of L.45 each for placement in remote or mechanic-less locations, with proceeds earmarked for a new "Fondo Cassette Riparazione" proposed by ing. Alberto Riva; the Council awards two gold medals to Turin Convegno organisers nob. Giuliano Capponi Trenca and Conte Viarigi Biglione, gives Treasurer Venegoni a silver medal for the Milano-Torino ride, and grants Cancelliere Angelo Provasoli leave rather than accepting his resignation so he can nurse his gravely ill mother. Also: a proposed convention with the Cyclists' Club of London referred to ing. Riva, an Alpine excursion (Milano-Novara-Varallo-Alagna-Passo del Turlo-Macugnaga-Pallanza) offered by Johnson, and Prof. Augusto Geisser of Regensburg delegated to represent the club at the Luxembourg touring congress.

  Sezione Movimento head S. Parboni reports that, despite lobbying, the Swiss Customs Directorate in Bern will require every touring cyclist to carry a new photographic legitimation card in place of the old laissez-passer from 1 January 1899, obtainable from headquarters at Via Giulini 2, Milan against 50 centesimi; he reproduces in full three Bern customs letters (25 May, 22 August and 6 October 1898) setting out the uniform card requirements.

  Vicenza Capo Console Luciano Casalini reports on a six-day cycling excursion by seven riders and a mechanic from Venzone through Pontebba, Klagenfurt, a steamer crossing of the Wörthersee, Villach, Lienz, Innichen and Toblach to Cortina d'Ampezzo and back into Italy via Ponte nelle Alpi, praising the discounted Aquila Nera hotel in Cortina and an impromptu welcome from a Venetian colony at Paternion, and noting customs formalities at Pontebba went smoothly for riders carrying the correct lead-sealed machine tag.

  Reproduces two full court judgments favouring cyclists: Cesena pretore Alfredo Molinari acquits 17-year-old Marsiglio Ceccarelli Hoedel on 5 August 1898 for riding a bicycle whose tax-declaration certificate had been issued to Ing. Giustiniano Gozzi rather than to him personally; and Casale Monferrato pretore Pasini acquits Avv. Costantino Robba, president of the Veloce Club Casalese, on 29 September 1898 of riding along a pedestrian-reserved avenue, ruling that only the 1897 national velocipede regulation, not older municipal police rules, governs cycling on public roads.

  Tenth instalment of consular appointments for the 1898-1900 term, by Council resolution of 25 August 1898: new consuls including Conte Francesco Martinengo at Bassano Bresciano, March. Federico Montecuccoli degli Erri at Modena and Conte Carlo Filippi at Velletri, and the resignations of Capo Console G. T. Angelini at Trieste and consuls at Modena, Perugia, Sciacca and Ventimiglia, signed by acting Capo Console Generale Aggiunto O. Gorla.

  Running list, town by town from Ampezzo to Terni, of hotels and restaurants newly affiliated to the T.C.C.I.'s Sezione Comfort between 20 August and 20 September 1898, giving each house's member discount and net room rate, plus a correction that the Albergo Monte Rosa at Macugnaga is NOT affiliated despite displaying the club's plaque, and notice that the Ristorante Fondra at Taceno, the Albergo Canili at Cantù and the Hotel Suisse at Savona are struck off.

  Price list of items sold from club headquarters at Via Giulini 2, Milan against advance payment: the social badge (L.1), bicycle tassel (L.0.30), hotel plaque (L.2.60), 1897 profile-collection folder, medical dressing kit (L.1.25), plus enamelled silver and gold pins and cufflinks and aluminium or silver nameplates for the bicycle, with an added charge for engraving.

  Announces that the smaller "Distintivo Mignon" club badge is now on sale to members at L.1.50, with a gilt version for consular office-holders at L.2, sold alongside the existing full-size L.1 badge.

  Lists newly affiliated pharmacists across Italy - from Alba and Bordighera to Piacenza, Parma and Prato - who now offer T.C.C.I. members discounted service, part of a network the club says already exceeds 500 pharmacies giving first aid to cyclists after falls.

  Capo Sezione Medica Dott. Favari explains that Touring-affiliated doctors give free emergency first aid only to injured club members within their own district, asks consuls to nominate one established local doctor (medico condotto or comunale) per mandamento using the current Annuario to spot gaps, and notes each affiliated doctor receives only a badge, plaque, certificate and the Rivista in return.

  Roll of 249 new candidate members admitted in the month, listed province by province from Alessandria to Vicenza - including Conte Leonardo Marcelli of Jesi and Duca Onorato Caetani of Rome - plus a substantial "Estero" section reaching Trieste, Budapest, Petersburg, New York and Lisbon, closing with the tally of 16,838 total members enrolled by 20 September 1898.

  Corrects two names misprinted in an earlier listing, both of Piacenza: "Ing. Rossi Enrico" rather than plain "Rossi Enrico", and "Ing. Edoardo Righetti" rather than plain "Edoardo Righetti".
