- Keystone Bicycle Club meet at Pittsburg: Arthur Brown wins both opens, Frank Trappe takes four Class A events and the Cleveland team takes half the prizes. Time trials that day include Bliss's 2:13 mile paced by Githens and Lumsden, and Archie Williams's half in 1:18.
- Woodbury Wheelmen's 25-mile road race (Creamer wins), John Wells's Pennsylvania Club course record, and the lantern parade plans.
- South Side Cycle Club's ten-mile club road race at St. Louis, won by Wm. Stock, a 9-minute man, in 36:38.
- H. H. Wylie abandons his New York-to-Chicago record ride at Woodville, Ohio, after falls and a gale.
- Wheeling meet: Sanger wins four races including the $300 mile international, A. I. Brown takes the half-mile open and Bliss's paced half-mile is noted. Bliss does not start the mile open, MacDonald pulls up lame, and Banker holds Bernhardt to six inches in the run-over.
- Herne Hill 12-hour race won by A. E. Walters with 258 miles 120 yards, with the hour-record table, and unheaded English notes on the North Road 24-hour, the Putney 12-hour and the Irish 24-hour. Chase leads through 7 1/4 hours before Walters takes over, with the stands cheering and the score at 258 miles 120 yards.
- Letter from G. E. Johnson of Louisville answering a correspondent's hints of an opposition L.A.W. ticket in Kentucky.
- Bordeaux: Zimmerman loses a one-mile tandem match to the Loste brothers by half a length, then a five-kilometre heat; an unheaded note follows on Bouhours's 27 miles 792 yards hour record. Zimmerman follows the Lostes home by half a length, and the five-kilometre heats end with Zimmerman winning the final.
- Rover Wheel Club's meet at the Newburgh track, Cleveland: Proudfoot's flying half in 1:04, and the Cleveland Wheel Club's century to Geneva.
- Buffalo Cycling Association meet at Tonawanda: Fred W. Fisher withdraws his protest after a foul, and Haskins lowers his mile to 2:20.
- Fred B. Hart of Chicago's West Side quietly marries Katheryn Kelly after a bicycle trip to Milwaukee.
- Milwaukee Wheelmen's meet: Willie Sanger wins the one-mile championship, Edward Roth takes the three handicaps, and the Waterloo and Crescent club results follow.
- Plan to extend Chicago's Sheridan Drive along the lake shore to Milwaukee, with $25,000 bills proposed in the Wisconsin and Illinois legislatures.
- Thomas McAleer beats Casey Castleman at Los Angeles's Athletic Park for the southern California 25-mile title, beating the coast record by a minute, after Castleman's protest is overruled.

A 3 October recount gives the Atheneums the race by two points, and the Royal Canadians serve an injunction against the cup.
- Steubenville, Ohio meet on a levelled hill track: Bliss breaks the half-mile state record in :58 2/5, Cabanne misses the two-mile standing record by a fraction of a second, and Helms beats Rigby in the Class A quarter. E. C. Johnson, once a $1,100 winner there, is beaten by Cabanne in the half-mile open.
- L. M. Richardson of the Monarch Cycle Co. criticises the New York show's bidding for exhibition space and proposes allotment by drawing.
