Newton Rubber Works of Boston promotes the Huestis patent detachable pneumatic tire, claiming it is the lightest, strongest, and quickest to attach of any detachable tire, with interlocking rubber prominences that make creeping on the rim impossible.
- Morgan and Wright Tire Mileage Records
Morgan and Wright publishes tables of exceptional mileage records on its tires: Professor D.I. Levis riding 10,178 miles in 1893, with ten riders averaging 5,926 miles per set, and 106 of 180 finishers at the Chicago century run using M. and W. tires.
- Palmer Tire Records
Palmer Pneumatic Tire Co. claims all records from one hundred yards to twenty-four hours except one unimportant gap, and won a gold medal for ease of repair at the Newcastle Exhibition, promoting the tire to non-racing riders who want to economise on effort.
- Dunlop Tire — A Remarkable Record
M.E. Glynn of Sarnia, Ontario writes to American Dunlop to report winning the Century Road Club of Canada's diamond gold medal for 21 centuries in 1893 on a Raleigh fitted with Dunlop tires, eleven of those centuries in November and December over frozen and icy roads without a single puncture.
