Zimmerman makes his first appearance at the Buffalo Velodrome in Paris, beating English rider Edwards in two matched races for £500 a side — winning the one-kilometre on a late jump with the final third covered in 23.5 seconds to break the lap record, and taking the two-kilometre by a good length.

French rider Constant Huret covers 457 miles and 1,612 yards in 24 hours at Paris, beating Shorland's world record by 32 miles and maintaining a pace of just under 19 miles per hour; English rival Lucas is knocked unconscious by a fall early in the race and cannot recover.
