- Lecture by C. Vernon Boys at London's Royal Institution on bicycle balance and the gyroscopic stability of the wheel, including a ball-bearing wear experiment using bearings from maker Mr. Bown. Describes Mr. Otto's new wheel, with structural spokes set in the rim's own plane plus elastic wavy side spokes, and safety-bicycle types such as the Xtraordinary, the Facile, and the Sun and Planet.
