Thomson of the Lenox Club; and Intercollegiate, New York and Manhattan Athletic Club races featuring Norton, Rood, Reed, Davidson and Gideon.
- A Public Ledger letter signed 'A Careful Driver' urging Philadelphia's Park Commissioners to address the Pennsylvania Railroad bridge and the Reading Railroad's safety bars, which frighten horses far more than bicycles, and proposing a ball-signal and ferry-style gates.
- Two reader letters: a Hamilton, Ohio, wheelman reporting that the local Park Committee dropped bicycle restrictions after noting horses shy more at water-carts and parasols, and a writer asking for guidance on bicycle road rights after a policeman stopped a club member.
- Club notes recording newly elected 1882-83 officers of the Susquehanna Bi. Club (President F. A. Miller, Captain T. A. Hayward) and the Philadelphia club at 60 13th Street (President Henry C. Blair, Captain Harold R. Lewis).

- Report of the American branch of the Bicycle Touring Club's meet at 791 Fifth Avenue and Yonkers on May 27, commanded by Captain Fred. G. Bourne; Chief Consul F. W. Weston's business meeting resolved to hold a meet on November 2, to manufacture badges domestically, and to name The Wheel the official B.T.C. organ in America.
- An essay reprinted from Bicycling News arguing that scratch races consistently draw spectators because the best man is expected to win, whereas handicap races fail to interest the public, and calling for handicaps to be demoted in favour of scratch racing.
- Fixture listings covering the weekly Lenox and Manhattan club runs, the closing of entries for the Fairfield County Agricultural Society one-mile race (gold medal, June 28) and a forthcoming fifty-mile race, and the Boston Bicycle Club's June run and moonlight-run schedule to South Canton, Squantum Point and Cohasset.
