W. Gaskell of Boston edges Geo. Webber of Smithville, N.J. in the two-mile bicycle, and George Webber takes the fifteen-mile L.A.W. championship.
- The Connecticut B.C. announces a two-day meet at Charter Oak Park, Hartford, Sept. 2–3, with rich prizes (Columbia tricycle and light roadster, professional purses to $200, and the L.A.W. five-mile championship) and fancy riding by Prof. D. J. Canary; entries close Aug. 27 with R. F. Way.
- Geo. D. Gideon of the Germantown Cycle Club circulates a letter urging 100 Philadelphia riders to each pay $10 a year to secure and maintain a bicycle track at the Gentlemen's Driving Park.
- A letter signed 'Primus' of Weedsport, Aug. 3, corrects the editor's mockery of the gold toothpick prize, explaining it was deliberately set as second prize in the Weedsport B.C. club championship for a member notorious for chewing wooden toothpicks.
- Report of a three-mile scratch race at Alexandra Palace, London, July 23, in which Philip Furnival beats M. V. F. J. Webber by six inches with R. H. English fourth, time 8.34, two seconds off G. Lacy Hillier's Crystal Palace record; the one-mile handicap final goes to G. W. Capern in 2.41 3-5.
- Race report from Crystal Palace, July 18, where R. H. English of North Shields B.C. wins the fifty-mile amateur championship in 2h 45m 13 4-5s, beating George Gatehouse of Cambridge University by fifty yards, and sets a two-hour record of 37 miles 155 yards.
